Description

Background

Charter Trucks is a leading commercial truck dealer based in Cloverdale, California, specializing in used Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, and other Class 8 trucks. With a robust online inventory, a sell/trade platform, and an established marketplace presence on Truck Paper and Commercial Truck Trader, Charter Trucks serves buyers and sellers across the United States.

When tripleNERDscore took over digital marketing and SEO management in October 2025, Charter Trucks was facing declining traffic, inefficient ad spend, and stagnant organic growth. Organic sessions had fallen 41% year-over-year by July 2025, Google Ads costs averaged $9,623 per month with cost per conversion spiking as high as $157.25, and total users showed no consistent growth trajectory.

Approach

tripleNERDscore conducted a comprehensive audit of Charter Trucks' digital marketing ecosystem and developed a strategy focused on three core pillars. First, paid social expansion: Charter Trucks had zero paid social presence before October 2025, so tripleNERDscore launched targeted campaigns on Facebook and YouTube that fundamentally changed the traffic mix. Second, Google Ads optimization: rather than spending more, the team restructured campaign targeting, adjusted budgets to optimize for conversions, and increased Google optimization scores by an average of 35%. Campaign-level phone call tracking was implemented to better attribute leads. Third, SEO and content strategy: the team stabilized the organic decline, improved average site position from 16.5 to 10.8, and invested in new content targeting high-intent search queries.

Execution

The paid social campaigns became the single biggest lever. By December 2025, Paid Social was the dominant traffic channel with 34,367 sessions, growing to 35,733 in January 2026. On the Google Ads side, tripleNERDscore cut average monthly spend by 45% (from $9,624 to $5,263) while reducing cost per conversion by 18% and dropping CPM by 56%. A new blog post on "The Best Semi Truck Models to Buy in 2026" generated 13,476 impressions and 36 clicks within its first month. An emerging result: AI-powered platforms like ChatGPT.com and Perplexity.ai began appearing as referral sources with 100% conversion rates, signaling that Charter Trucks' content was being surfaced by AI assistants.

Results

The impact was immediate and sustained. Total users surged from 8,308 in October to 45,791 in January 2026, a 348% increase. December 2025 produced the highest call volume of the entire period at 487 total calls, a 65% increase driven largely by the new paid social campaigns. Google Ads conversions climbed from 43 in October to 66 in January while spending significantly less. Direct traffic grew 112%, display traffic grew 284%, and organic social grew over 12,000%. The channel diversification reduced Charter Trucks' vulnerability to search algorithm changes and created entirely new audience segments for the business.
